Novell approached
Sometimes Y and asked for a way to enliven their all-day Continuous
Improvement Process seminars. Sometimes Y came up with a ten
minute animated video. High on Dilbert inspired sarcasm,
but maintaining a degree of decorum (management would be watching),
the video showed how the CIP could be used to promote quality in any
setting - even a cartoon.
Kate
Keene, our heroine and newly appointed manager of the Bucketly hotel,
is reporting for duty. Little does she know what shes in for.
Mz.
Kelmsley, the high queen and owner of the Bucketly, with her itty
bitty kitty, Schnookims.
Robert,
the concierge, takes considerable pride in standing above the unwashed
masses patronizing the Bucketly. Helping the bourgeoisie is a job
for the clerk, after all.
The
clerk, obviously unfamiliar with such socio-economic concepts, relaxes
and does his best to make himself feel at home.
The
rooms are too cold! It seems that clienteles resentment
over their mistreatment is beginning to rise to the surface!
The
rooms are too HOT! These complaints are mild compared to what
comes next!
A
glimpse into the greatest tragedy ever to befall the Bucketly: attack
of the angry Shriners!
Mz.
Kelmsley gives an ultimatum to Kate: clean up the Bucketly, or else!
But at least she delivers it with a smile... shudder!
Kate
scrambles to pull together a team! But will it be enough to save
the Bucketly?
While
I cant divulge all of Novell's quality secrets here, I thought
Id brave the lawyers on this one.
Wally
takes careful note of the few complaints received to date...
While
Kate enlightens them on the finer points of the Continuous Improvement
Process.
After
a whirlwind of note pads, memos, and post-it notes, a flowchart
of quality is born, and the revolution can begin!
Thanks
to Kates introduction of the CIP, the staff can unite and
work as a team to efficiently solve their quality problems!
After
all that hard work, its time to celebrate! A slice of cake for all
and you can eat it as well, thanks to Louie the Chef.
No,
this isn't Sockets the Clown
reclining in the buff. This is Sometimes Ys animator, who
evidently worked more than his fingers to the bone!
